Buyer Evaluations
UPDATE: As of 8/11, I would rate this unit at 1 Star (Cannot adjust on edit function of evaluation)
Original refrigerator was just replaced with the newly created icemaker model due to the concerns with the original icemaker. Electrolux has been excellent, but this refrigerator's icemaker has truly been a large predicament. I would look for other lines just before Electrolux, at least till they can improve thier designs and engineering.
Original review with some edits:
We have been on a journey to find a superb, stylish and functional counter depth refrigerator. We are replacing a perfectly fine Kitchen Help side by side that we place in a second property. Initial, we chose a Samsung side by side, but were not happy with it's refrigerator temperature. We set it at 34, but it in no way seemed cold enough. Milk was by no means "ice cold" as we had been accustomed to. We started monitoring the temperatures, and it was normally around 38-43 degrees. Samsung was unable to remedy this concern, even immediately after sending out a new replacement. Then we chose a GE Profile model, but it was a comparable scenario, with wide temperature swings between the setting of 34, and 44 degrees, so a return of the GE was in order after service was unable to remedy it is big temperature swings.
Now, onto the Electrolux. This was a favored from the begin when we had been buying, but we had been scared off by some evaluations. We decided to go for it anyway, and are pleased with that selection, so far. Having said that, the first one particular delivered did not cool at all. A service tech was dispatched right away, and he located that there was a broken line from the compressor, due to damage in shipping, no fault of the unit, and all the refrigerant had escaped. The dealer brought the GE back until another Electrolux could be ordered and delivered.
Upon recieving the second Electrolux, it is performing nicely. Internal temperature is as stated on the Wave Touch Panel at 34 and -four degrees for the freezer (which, by the way, you can set to show the refrigerator and freezer temps at all times). The units appearance is of decent high quality, getting stainless steel on all sides, sturdy handles, and a modern look with Wave Touch Controls, which are quick to use. The doors are straight forward to align or adjust if necessary.
The interior of this unit is 22.6 cu/ft, so as counter depth goes, it is decent. With edgeless glass shelves, ball bearing glides on all drawers, a massive temperature controlled drawer with digital programmed settings, two fantastic sized slide out bins, and exceptionaly properly done LED lighting, this unit's interior is impressive.
We primarily like the temperature controlled drawer, which can be adjusted from 28 to 40+ degrees. The drawer is big enough for party platters, and can keep fresh meats at near freezing, or beer can be kept at a especially good 28 degrees, or wines at a preferred chosen temperature. The ice maker does take up a fair amount of space, but for ice and water in the door, it is a worth when sacrifice.
The icemaker has had some negative critiques, but so far ours is fine. The cubes are rounded, with a divit. I'm not certain why this is regarded as "Drink Friendly", but they are good. A single issue is that the cubes seem to come out with some vengence. But, by merely putting your glass or ice bucket close to the dispensing chute...difficulty solved. We have observed no melted ice puddles in the catch basin. Water dispensing is straightforward, and functional. We have only had this unit for a few days, so I can not comment on ice production quantity, but it is supposed to be improved than most, per Electrolux specifications.
The freezer has 2 deep slide out bins, and 1 shallow one, with dividers and smooth ball bearing slides. One of our wire dividers does not stay in location, but that is no huge problem at all. Space is good, and well utilized. Lighting in the freezer is wonderful.
If I listen closely, I can hear the unit operating, but sound is not obtrusive or noticably louder than any of the other units we have had recently. I would say it is quiet.
Pros: Operates at correct temperatures set, tremendous slide out temperature controlled drawer, Exceptionally well performed LED lighting and appearance, Wave Touch Controlls, functional use of space. Looks and feels high high quality. We finally have genuinely cold milk once more.
Cons: High finish of price tag scale, Ice maker takes up some refrigerator space, and some door storage.
I did some severe analysis prior to acquiring this refrigerator. Mandatory was counter depth with ice on the door, not just water. The G.E. Profile counter depth does not offer this, only the complete size 25 cubic foot models. I did not want to have to open the freezer drawer just to get a few ice cubes. Countless reviews complain about the ice maker in the upper refrigerator exactly where it drips water. A properly founded complaint. Electrolux was made conscious of this predicament and they have a retro-fix created on the market to their dealers to fix this. I addressed this concern prior to my buy and it was corrected. The ice is cold and it does not drip. Putting the ice maker in the upper refrigerator does take up some valuable space. It's just sufficient room for my wife and I but for a loved ones of four it would never ever operate, it's just as well tiny. This is a high-end refrigerator with all the bells whistles. It is properly built, quiet and genuine eye candy when placed in a upgraded kitchen. You will not be disappointed or regret this buy. Hold in mind that you can buy the 25 cubic foot model for practically $500.00 less. If you have the space this is the better way to go. Shop about. There are many deals out there on this refrigerator.
