EDITED to add comments following 6 months of use:
Many people continue to curse at the stupid style of the water dispenser, and continue to spill water all more than the location. Lowering the star rating from original 3 stars to 2. I would NOT recommend this unit, particularly for the asking price tag. If you can obtain 1 on clearance, maybe, but again, there is Absolutely nothing particular about this that qualifies it to be priced above $1K imo.
One year warranty individuals...that must tell you a thing perfect there.
Replaced a GE fridge with this model:
Due to my space limitations, I narrowed it down to the similar Kitchenaid model (sort of wish I had gone for this), and the Whirlpool at the identical level. Bought on the web sight unseen fwiw.
Honestly, I don't see why the "Professional" designation on this. Nothing about the quality makes me think it really is anything other than a quite average refrigerator. Low-priced, plastic bins just like every single other average unit I have seen.
PROS:
- Finest factor about this is the superior seeking AND practical stainless steel finish. It really is good genuinely - NO smudging (except on the handles) AND it really is magnetic (something rare in SS models).
- "theater" lighting...when you open the doors at night, supposedly it doesn't blind you promptly, but rather gradually, as the lights ramp up
- Has a changeable air filter. I like this...no additional arm and hammer boxes taking up space and tipping more than. OTOH, an additional filter to replace.
- External, digital temp controls for each sides. I like the idea of this...but in reality, how commonly are you going to be changing the temperature? If you have to alter it a lot, maybe there is a issue with the thermostat?
- this is a smaller thing, but I certainly like that some of the side compartments in the fridge have a non slip surface. Rather good touch. As an alternative of your jars of jelly sliding about and clanking into every other (except when the door closes, see beneath), items remain nicely in place.
CONS:
- OMG THE DOOR SLAM. This 1 kills me, and for such a modest factor, makes such a significant unfavorable impression given that it's Every time you deal with the fridge. When you close the door, there is NO "cushion" for lack of a improved or a great deal more technical word. On my extremely low finish GE (and most each fridge out there for that matter), there is a built in governor I guess that slows the speed of the door so it doesn't just slam closed. I feel what happens is that the resistance is just greater as you approach the closed position. Whatever that feature is, WP for some purpose decided to leave it out on this fridge (maybe none of theirs have this, no thought). It is sooo annoying. We have gotten utilised to it a great deal more or less, and most of the time we meticulously and slowly close the door so it does not rattle the complete kitchen. But anybody else (who of course is also made use of to the standard, slower fridge door behavior) closing the fridge door is consistently startled and typically jumps when the door SLAMS shut with a large rattle. This is just piss poor design imo, and is a massive negative. I am confident we will ultimately get made use of to it, but shouldn't have to.
- another horrible, non regular style implementation re: water dispener. Unless you have an really wide cup (assume wide coffee mug or even soup bowl/mug, you can't just push your glass into the unit expecting water to hit. Nooooo. Due to the fact of the design, any regular rim sized glass will be overshot by the water squirter, so you have to wrap your hand around the glass and then insert, to make up for the space. Never ever seen a different fridge with this dilemma, and like the door slam problem, given that it's so unusual, each time an individual not living in our property goes for water, they end up obtaining it all over them and the floor. That tells you proper there it really is not just me getting picky. I swear they created the thing and never ever in fact tested it in a real live scenario. Inexcusable imo.
Considering that these two factors have somewhat very easy workarounds, I am not going to go into below average territory. I doubt there is a perfect fridge out there, but I do wish I had gone for the Kitchenaid. I wonder if their engineers produced similar blunders.
3 stars, barely, and that is assuming that this unit will final a number of years w/o probs.
IMO, appear at the Kitchenaid just before shopping for this a single.
The refrigerator stopped operating a week soon after arrival. Just after spending hours with buyer service they offered me with the telephone number of the neighborhood sevice provider. The technician arrived and fixed the loose temperature sensor contacts and at the very same time tore off the water supply, which resulted in flood in the kitchen. The Frigidaire buyer service refused to talk about the damage. Preserve away from them!
